Virago and the author Joanna Hodgkin hosted a wonderful launch party on Thursday for AMATEURS IN EDEN, the biography of her mother who was Lawrence Durrell's first wife. Virago have done a superb job - the book is either in the window or on the 'new titles' table of every London bookshop and it has been reviewed in the Sunday Times, Observer, Spectator and Guardian with a Times serialisation. Jo has been interviewed on Nightwaves and Woman's Hour with more to come. It's a fascinating story of a highly unusual marriage and it is great to be working with a publisher who is getting it the attention it deserves.
